The Story of Confederation
Explore the Confederation Chamber, an accurate replica of the Province House site where Canada was born. The Upper Foyer of the Confederation Centre of the Arts has been transformed into a stunning replica of the historic Confederation Chamber where the Fathers of Confederation met during the Charlottetown Conference. While there, watch Parks Canada’s new film, “A Building of Destiny”, which transports viewers back in time to the first eight days in September, 1864, when the discussions that took place at Province House would change the face of North America. This film also showcases related themes, including the First Nations context at the time of Confederation and the role of women in Victorian society.

In fact, many consider PEi Canada's number one golf destination because you are never far from beaches, restaurants, shopping, or most of PEI's 25 stunning courses. On this trip we will play four of the best PEI has to offer!
Green Gables Golf Course
Established in 1939 Green Gables GC has provided many golf memories for generations making it a “Must Play” on Prince Edward Island. Designed in 1939 by world renowned Scottish architect Stanley Thompson and rejuvenated by one of today’s leading architects, Thomas McBroom, Green Gables is one of PEI’s most unique golf experiences. Located in Prince Edward Island’s National Park, Green Gables provides both traditional and modern golfing pleasures. Here, you’ll find everything a seaside course has to offer: views of the famous sand dunes at Cavendish, Anne of Green Gables House, ocean vistas, and exceptional course conditions.

Dundarave Golf Course
This is a challenging yet fair layout that offers generous fairways lined with luscious pines. The course is well designed. It has five tee boxes that vary from 4820 to 7089. PEI is famous for its "red dirt" and that is what you'll find in the this well bunkered course. Dundarave is beautiful track that provides some very scenic waterscapes, especially the holes that offer views of the Brudenell River. The golf course was designed by award winning architects Dr. Michael Hurdzan and Dana Fry and opened in July of l999. Since its opening it has consistently been ranked within the top three courses in PEI. Golf Digest recently rated Dundarave at four and one half stars, raving,
“Outstanding, plan your next vacation
around it”. So we did!

Glen Afton Golf Course
Glen Afton, with the mix of wooded and links style of play, is one of the most interesting and fun places to play golf on PEI. Its impressive par-70 layout is a crowd-pleaser on all fronts, spanning a scenic 5,847 yards adorned with a variety of bluegrass, rye grass, and fescue. Environmentally conscious patrons will also be pleased to know that Glen Afton uses minimal herbicide and works hard to reduce their carbon footprint while conducting their operations. This is a casual, rustic course and though the fairways and rough are not as manicured as the high end courses on PEI the scenic views and holes that play along the Northumberland Straight make it worth
the visit.

The Links at Crowbush Cove
Recognized by Golf Digest as Canada’s Best New Course in 1994. This is considered to be Tom McBroom's links style masterpiece, overlooking the north shore dunes of PEI the course offers stunning views of the Gulf of St. Laurence. Course conditioning is usually immaculate and the greens are undulating and challenging. Each hole offers its own challenge for every level of golfer, which allows you to use most of the clubs in your bag, especially if it's windy. It is truly a must play. How can it get better than a Golf Digest five star rating? Truly an unbelievable combination of nature and imagination. The Links at Crowbush Cove is the top rated course on PEI, we think
you'll love it!

Tentative Itinerary:
Anne of Green Gables Tour –
Discover the picturesque region of Green Gables Shore on this half-day tour from Charlottetown. This is the quaint, historic region of Prince Edward Island that inspired L.M. Montgomery’s classic 1908 novel ‘Anne of Green Gables.’ It is also home to stunning rolling hills, sandy beaches, and sandstone cliffs. Tour the popular Green Gables House with a knowledgeable guide, then stop at the Prince Edward Island Preserve Company, a riverside restaurant with artisan preserves, fine teas, bone china, local pottery and more.
From Charlottetown we'll make the drive north to Green Gables Shore for a few hours of sightseeing. Along the way, from rolling farmlands to a windswept coastline, make stops for photo opportunities at lighthouses and the popular Cavendish Beach. What we found interesting was that this tour is not so much about the books but about the island, it’s food, climate and local People.
PEI Lobster Tour with Lunch – This 2-2.5 hour boat tour offers a peak into the life of a Canadian Lobster Fisherman. Captain Chancey will welcome us aboard his Fundy Cruiser and take our group out into the open waters off PEI. We'll learn about the habitat and life-cycle of the lobster as well as see how they are harvested, when they haul a lobster trap and band the lobster claws. The cruise includes an interpreted tour of a historic lighthouse, the scenery of Charlottetown Harbor and a visit to a seal colony. Not only do you get to learn about sea life and lobsters, but you also get to eat some! The crew will provide freshly prepared Mussles and Lobster Rolls for lunch. This tour is considered a PEI Authentic Experience and has been consistently rated Excellent by TripAdvisor.
Anne of Green Gables-The Musical™ - Anne of Green Gables–The Musical™ will return for its 57th consecutive season the summer of 2021, a testament to enduring story of an orphan girl who came from away and changed the Island forever. The classic is a humorous, touching, and truly athletic musical that will inspire your imagination, tickle your funny bone, and mesmerize you with both graceful and exhilarating singing and dancing. This family musical tells the poignant and funny story of a freckle-faced, red-haired orphan named Anne Shirley who arrives at the Bright River Railway Station full of hope for a new life. Her destination is the home of brother and sister Matthew and Marilla Cuthbert in Avonlea, Prince Edward Island. When she arrives at Green Gables, Anne is devastated when she discovers that the elderly couple is expecting a boy from the orphanage…and then ecstatic when they decide to keep her. With her fiery temper, love of melodrama and romance, and penchant for misadventure, she brings laughter, love, and more than a little consternation to the Cuthbert’s quiet lives. In return, Anne finds the happiness and the home she has longed for all her life. With a company of 28 amazing Canadian talents and a 14-member live orchestra, this Canadian classic has delighted more than 2.5 million people over 2,500 times at Confederation Centre. Anne of Green Gables–The Musical™ is a humorous, touching, and truly athletic musical that will inspire your imagination, tickle your funny bone, and mesmerize you with both graceful and exhilarating singing and dancing.
Prince Edward Island Preserve Company
In 1987, Bruce MacNaughton and his wife, Shirley purchased a 100 year old Creamery, which was a pretty well worn down building on the bank of the River Clyde, in the lovely village of New Glasgow in Prince Edward Island. Their goal was to renovate and create a food destination that welcomed and treated guests to food with integrity and flavor. It all started with their low sugar preserves, specialty foods, blending full leaf tea, and has since grown spice blends as well.
They have developed the location with hard work, positive word of mouth from our customers and customer caring staff. Their retail shop and online store sell only items they enjoy themselves. They must be functional, beautiful and offer value. We have met most producers of the products we sell, including Dunoon Pottery in Staffordshire, England. We look for friendly people who produce excellent products at reasonable prices. Our seasonal restaurant is one of the busiest on the Island; they are there to serve tasty local comfort food at affordable prices. We hope you'll enjoy this unique PEI company.
