The Quarry Course

Dating back to 1908 the historic Quarry Golf Course was chiseled from stone to create the most dramatic golf course in San Antonio.  The Quarry is surrounded by the culture that was left behind from the many families that worked in Cementville leaving behind the site for a world renowned golf course – The Quarry Golf Course!  During your round, you will be challenged and rewarded in many ways. The front nine plays in a links-style format and features rolling hills, native grasses and immaculate greens. The back nine lays out in an 100-year-old quarry pit. You will love the elevated tee boxes and shots that will fly over large expanses. After a day at the Quarry, you will certainly feel like you just played one the most unique and enjoyable rounds of golf of your life.

San Antonio River Walk Cruise
Your 35-minute narrated cruise in new, colorful barges will take you on an enchanting journey through San Antonio’s rich history, from La Villita, the city’s first neighborhood (and where General Santa Anna placed his cannon line in the Battle of the Alamo)… past the Old Mill Crossing where Teddy Roosevelt led his Rough Riders… You’ll learn about our city’s architecture and points of interest, such as Selena’s Bridge, where Tejano superstar Selena Quintanilla Pérez’s husband proposed to her in the movie; the Hyatt Regency Hotel, designed so its height would not cast a shadow on the Alamo in the setting sun; and the Briscoe Western Art Museum. Our German, Mexican, French, Irish, and American Indian heritages create a culture unique to San Antonio.

THE ALAMO

San Antonio's most popular attraction, The Alamo, originally known as the Mision San Antonio de Valero, was one of six Spanish Catholic missions founded on the San Antonio River. It was later used as a fort during the Mexican battles for independence from Spain. In 1835, during the Texas Revolution, a group of Texans occupied the Alamo. They maintained position until March 1836 when 187 died during a battle with the Mexican army. Today, it is a National Historic Landmark and museum. Admission is free, although donations are accepted.

Canyons Course at TPC San Antonio (PETE DYE)

If everything is bigger in Texas, why wouldn’t the TPC of San Antonio be bigger too.  It is!  One course just wouldn’t be enough so they have 2!  Greg Noman takes credit for the Oaks course addition, while the club’s Canyons Course design, and former host of the PGA Champions Tour,  was created by World Golf Hall of Famer, Pete Dye. Over the course of his lifetime, he designed more than 250 courses around the world and is still considered by many to be the most influential course designer of the last five decades. Pete has placed his signature onto a “who’s who” list of the world’s most iconic golf courses like Crooked Stick, Harbour Town, The Ocean Course at Kiawah, The Stadium Course at TPC Sawgrass, Whistling Straits, Blackwolf Run, Teeth of the Dog and many more.

Working with PGA TOUR player consultant Bruce Lietzke, Pete Dye designed the Canyons Course and kept the Texas Hill Country terrain completely natural  to take advantage of the spectacular views and rolling hills of a 700-acre nature preserve and the nearby Cibolo Canyons. The layout features wide fairways, a Dye Trademark, and majestic stands of oak and cedar trees.  Bermuda grasses were specially selected for this course to provide optimum playing conditions, diversity in color, texture and environmental sensitivity. The putting greens are Champions Bermuda.  The layout provides challenge for scratch golfers and novices alike with dramatic elevation changes. The par-72, Canyons Course, is the previous host of the  PGA TOUR Champions when it was known as the AT&T San Antonio Championship, from 2011-2015.  The list of past winners include Fred Couples, Kenny Perry and Bernard Langer among others.  Golfweek Magazine ranked the Canyons Course as #10 Best Courses You Can Play in Texas in 2019.

ALAMO: THE PRICE OF FREEDOM

This is a stirring tribute to the 189 Texans, Tejanos and settlers who defended the besieged Alamo for 13 days against the Mexican Army of General Santa Anna. Although they were defeated, the memory of the battle rallied Texas troops to fight for independence, and it created the battle cry for generations of Americans, “Remember the Alamo!”
